Ball Machine & Drills
About this course:
One instructor will lead a session with ball machines so you can practise particular shots with great consistency.
The second instructor will lead a drills session to learn a series of drills with a partner and practise games. Each participant will spend one hour with the ball machines and one hour playing drills
Work on each of the most important pickleball skills.
Please ensure you sign up for the correct session.

1-3 PM (2.5 – 3.5 playing level)
3 – 5 PM (3.5 players and above)

Level 1 BEGINNERS
For players who are new to the sport or have played very little and have not had any formal instruction.
Open to Non-Members of Calgary Pickleball Club.
This course will cover:
- Paddle grip
- Basic ball skills/hand-eye co-ordination
- The ready position
- Footwork and split step
- Basic dink straight and cross court – forehand and backhand
- Serving and returning
- Ground strokes
- The rules
- Safety and etiquette
- Basic playing strategy in doubles
- Each session will include playing games

Level 3 INTERMEDIATE
For players who have achieved a minimum 3.0 DUPR rating or have at least 18 months regular playing experience
This course will cover:
- Improving serves and returns – introduction of more aggressive serves
- Volleying – speeding up the hands
- Overheads and smashes
- Defensive and offensive lobs
- Drop shots – improving accuracy and introducing third shot drops and re-sets
- Playing strategy in doubles
- Much use will be made of various drills working on improving each of the skills
- Each session will end with game play

- Dinking, improving consistency
- Improving serves and returns
- Volleying – stop volley and punch volley
- The ready position – how it changes as you move around the court
- Drop shots – introduction to third shot drops and re-sets
- Ground strokes – improving power and accuracy
- Further playing strategy in doubles
- Each session will end with game play
