AGM and Elections

Thank you to all members who attended our AGM, a strong turnout. 

Summary

Nominations: Gary De Leeuw, Rajan Deol and Sumit Chawla responded to the call for nominations. At this time, Gary De Leeuw was appointed to the Board by Acclamation. Sumit Chawla and Rajan Deol withdrew from consideration.

The following directors continue on the CPC Board:

Shameer Abdool, Susan Graham, Peter Llewellyn, Cat Hackman, Vern Atkinson, Sue Stevenson Brown. The CPC board Bylaws allow for seven elected positions, plus two appointed by the Board. Sherry Richardson has resigned from the Board.

CPC is embarking upon exciting times in the world of pickleball as we prepare for summer play 2024, and the new 20 court outdoor facility currently being pursued with the Parks Foundation, Calgary. We are also looking forward to potentially two new indoor facilities fall 2024. 

Please consider joining the CPC board of directors, even if you are brand new to the sport. You can help shape the future of pickleball in Calgary as well as help us meet the needs of our members.

Board Vacancies, Secretary and Treasurer

The board are looking for two appointed members;

Treasurer, responsible for: maintaining the financial obligations of CPC. This includes making payments to vendors, preparing monthly reports for Board of Directors, as well as annual filing of GST and other returns.

Secretary, responsible for: ensuring meetings are effectively organized and minutes are recorded, by laws are adhered to, effective records and administration are maintained and oversees the legal requirements of governing documents.

And last but not least, a big thank you to two board members who have stepped down: Sherry Richardson and Lynn Lehr, who both served on the Calgary Pickleball Board for many years. More information to come on Sherry’s and Lynn’s amazing contributions to the club.
